The first rapid after the Baroda Chute catches many paddlers unawares! It is the rockiest rapid of the entire race, and the fact that it comes up so early on Day Two when it is normally pretty chilly doesn’t help much either!
The river bends to the right and although it seems workable to cut the corner, it is not a wise decision! The best, and cleanest line, is to paddle hard towards the left where you will see a small island. Aim for the slot in the rocks just to the right of this grassy island, as this will line you up with a nice, clean route through the rocks and the rest of the rapid.
