HANSA FISH CANOE MARATHON STRONGLY SUPPORTS CRADOCK CANCER CARE
The organizing committee has decided to support the Cradock Cancer Care organization and we strongly encourage all individuals, organizations and businesses to support this drive.
The Cradock Cancer Care organization started operating in Cradock as a branch of the National Cancer association in 1993. In 1994 it was decide 
d that they would break away from the National Council and the Cradock Cancer Association was established. This step was taken to facilitate the control of their funds and enable them to make immediate grants to patients where needed. In 1999 it was decided that the name be changed to Cradock Cancer Care Association and it was registered as NPO in April 2003.
To date they have had 3 qualified nurses in their employ – all of whom cannot be praised enough for their extraordinary sympathy, empathy and dedication. Presently they have 56 registered patients who are receiving support from 18 voluntary committee members. Fund raising is done on a continuous basis and ALL FUNDS are spent on their patients, transport costs (where necessary), equipment and stock.
We feel obligated to support this organization and make sure that it operates without financial restrictions so that the people of Cradock who need help and support during what can only be described as a most traumatic time in their lives, get the necessary care.
We appeal t
o everyone to show empathy towards this drive enabling the Cradock Cancer Care to fight this debilitating disease within our community. Support can be given in one of three ways:
• At registration armbands will be sold for R100 each in support of the drive.
• The charity batch will be supportive of Cradock Cancer Care.
